Announcing the Showdown Series & Le Rift Tour

One of our philosophies is that Organized Play should always be evolving. We have loved seeing all the excitement and demand for premier play for Riftbound through our Regional Qualifiers, and there is clearly a desire out there for more opportunities to compete at a high level.

We’re excited to introduce two new competitive programs designed to create more opportunities to compete and qualify for premier competition:

• Riftbound Showdown Series – globally sanctioned third-party tournaments
• Le Rift Tour – a national competitive circuit to celebrate the French launch of Riftbound

We intend to keep growing in new directions to ensure that Riftbound Premier play is as fun as players want it to be.

Riftbound Showdown Series

The Riftbound Showdown Series introduces officially sanctioned tournaments run by experienced tournament organizers around the world—giving players more opportunities to compete and qualify for top-tier play.

Regional Qualifiers are large-scale events for thousands of players. Our vision for the Showdown Series is to instead be events featuring hundreds of players, allowing events to be spun up globally and provide another path to our Regional Championship events.

How it works

• Open tournaments hosted by partnered event organizers
• Currently hosted across North America, Europe, and the Asia-Pacific regions
• Players can earn even more chances to compete in Riftbound Premier Play tournaments based on the total number of participants in their Showdown Series event:
  • Top finishers will earn a Regional Championship invite.Some limitations apply.
  • Additionally, top finishers will also earn a Competitor Pass to a future Regional Qualifier of their choosing. Some limitations apply.
• There will be special Participation Promo cards and Standard Plated Legends for the Best-Of finishers of Legends from the most recent three Sets.

Shout out to our Tournament Organizers

Tournaments Organizers are a huge part of any TCG ecosystem. Many of these organizers have been running Riftbound events since launch last year. We’re thrilled that we can partner with them to create more opportunities for players to get a taste of premier play.

Le Rift Tour

Today marks the launch of French language Origins! Along with it we’re excited to announce Le Rift Tour, the first official Riftbound tournament circuit in France. Built to bring players together across French LGSs and culminate in a live final at Paris Game Week.

This is a one-time event in honor of Riftbound’s French launch, highlighting and celebrating France’s exciting tournament and LGS communities, featuring Standard constructed competitive events. (That means it is not limited to the use of French Riftbound cards to participate though we do hope we see them there!)

All over France, players will compete in their local LGS alongside their friends and community for the chance to take their local scene all the way to Paris Game Week. Le Rift Tour is a celebration of the communities and rivalries that make Riftbound so special.

What to Expect

• 3 competitive phases: Store Qualifiers, Division Qualifiers, Final Stage
• Exciting promo cards and other awesome prizes
• Finalists will earn qualification to the Europe Regional Championship

Q: What are the Le Rift Tour coins?

These are commemorative coins for Top Players at each Division Qualifier to celebrate their achievement.

Q: Why not a French Plated Legend?

We are being very purposeful in our release of new metal cards, and introducing a 1 of 1 French Plated Legend is not something we are ready to do for the time being.
